Factors affecting the pass through rate in SMT chip processing

In SMT chip processing, an important indicator to measure the profitability of a company or production line is "through rate" Similarly, for customers who need PCBA processing, the straight through rate means whether the delivery time can be maximized. The higher the straight through rate, the shorter the delivery time. So what are the factors that affect the through rate?


One is before production and the other is after production. Today we mainly analyze the process before production, that is, the process design stage.


The process design for straight through rate is mainly through the detailed process design of PCB to ensure the manufacturing of single board with zero defects. Usually, what we hear most is design for manufacturability (DFM), and we rarely hear process design for pass through rate. This is because most factories do not have this knowledge, and even if they do, they have not realized the importance and complexity of design for pass through rate.


1、 The process design for straight through rate needs the support of experienced engineers. The process design for straight through rate generally needs to go through the following stages:

(1) Have mastered a large number of typical cases.

(2) Know the process characteristics of each package and what problems are likely to arise.

(3) Understand the mechanism and causes of each adverse phenomenon.

(4) Master effective solutions and measures.


2、 If SMT processing plant has not experienced these processes, it will be difficult to achieve process design oriented to straight through rate! To improve the straight through rate, there are five main process means in the production stage, which can be improved:


(1) Optimize the steel mesh design.

(2) Select appropriate solder paste.

(3) Optimize printing operations.

(4) Optimize the temperature curve.

(5) Adopt tooling and improve process methods.
